HEAVY FEELINGS returns to OPEN GROUND in Wuppertal for the fourth time, once again taking over the ANNEX and its powerful sound system.
For this edition, we bring together three selectors connected through different chapters of the HEAVY FEELINGS journey: STICKY DUB from Liverpool, MOKEYANJU from Berlin and PARISSA from Cologne.
MOKEYANJU, aka Jumoke, was part of the early circle around HEAVY FEELINGS back in 2022, becoming one of the first selectors to join the platform and a connection that has continued ever since. Now based in Berlin, she moves between vinyl selection, radio and interdisciplinary practice. Her sets draw from a wide spectrum of African, Caribbean and diasporic sounds, connecting Fújì, Highlife, Benga, Soukous, Calypso, Ndombolo, House and Electronica. Alongside her regular radio work at REFUGE WORLDWIDE, she is also part of POETRY MEETS, a platform exploring the space between music, language and cultural exchange.
Joining from Liverpool, STICKY DUB brings his distinct blend of Broken Beat, Hip Hop, Dub, Soul, House and UK soundsystem influences. Coming out of the Brownswood Future Bubblers scene with his former Hip Hop trio NUTRIBE, he has since developed a singular approach to rhythm, production and selection, with releases on EGLO RECORDS and a growing presence across the UK and beyond.
Completing the lineup is PARISSA, founder and curator of HEAVY FEELINGS and a vinyl-only selector. Her selections move between Jazz, Dub, Afro-diasporic rhythms and electronic music, shaped by years of digging, collecting and listening across different musical worlds.
Three selectors, three different musical trajectories and a shared connection through HEAVY FEELINGS. For this fourth visit to the ANNEX, expect a night built around deep selections, rhythmic crossings and the particular energy of a room designed to be experienced through sound.
