SHOKA SUNFLOWER is a Johannesburg-based artist, lyricist and creative whose work moves between poetic introspection, alternative hip-hop and deeply personal storytelling. Rooted in the ever-evolving independent scene of Johannesburg, he continues to build a distinctive artistic language shaped by collaboration, curiosity and constant growth.

Whether through music, visual direction or world-building, SHOKA SUNFLOWER approaches creativity as an ongoing process of learning and becoming. His writing contains sharp observation, while his productions explore the spaces between spoken word, rap, experimental songwriting and contemporary South African underground culture.

In 2025, SHOKA SUNFLOWER joined the Heavy Feelings family through his Refuge Worldwide radio takeover Baby Hake & The New South Africa, a carefully curated journey into a new generation of South African artists, producers and creative voices. The show continues to serve as a bridge between Johannesburg and the wider HF community.
