Agadir-born and Hamburg-raised, douniah engages in the practice of interpreting her spirit, impressively, in German, Darija, and English. We find here, a body of work that threads together the tenets of free-form poetry and romanticism, backdropped by neo-experimental jazz tendencies. In euphony, a worldly array of instruments act in symbiosis to carry us through ‚A Lot, Not Too Much‘. douniah’s voice is one to fall into; her message is enunciated with every word, delivered delicately with an inventory of riffs and ranged tone. The utilisation of choppy, note-like, freestyles bridges the EP’s strong singles, into a rhapsodic whole.

Douniah’s audience knows her well. The Berlin-based singer and songwriter has built a reputation in the scene for her live performances since releasing the collaborative album „Dream Baby“ with Hamburg-based producer High John in 2019.
A follow-up to her 2019 album ‚Dream Baby‘, Berlin-based vocalist douniah releases her first solo project ‚A Lot, Not Too Much‘ on Melting Pot Music on November 17th, digitally and on LP, produced by Dhanya Langer with features by okcandice and Pachakuti – Including contributions by Moses Yoofee and K.Le Maestro, to name a few characters that shaped the sound this record.

douniah imparts her debut solo EP ‚A Lot, Not Too Much‘ to an unexpecting audience. Thoughtfully, the singer-songwriter invites us to embark on our own saviour. The collection of songs is steeped in artistic and emotional integrity. Production was led and executed by Dhanya Langer. Written amid the pandemic, this piece is an effort of immense proportions – experimenting with her sound in time, wading through spirals of arduous personal challenges. “A first impression of how my journey sounds.”
